Special Issue on „Changes in Educational Homogamy and Its Consequences“ published
“Who mates with and marries whom?”
Our recent special issue (SI) looks at the consequences of the educational expansion for mating patterns. The SI has been guest edited by Pia Blossfeld (University of Innsbruck), Stefani Scherer (University of Trento) and Wilfred Uunk (University of Innsbruck). Find their peer-reviewed editorial here .
In their individual contributions the SI authors examine whether the rates of relative educational homogamy have increased and review the consequences for partnership stability and union dissolution, fertility, and children’s educational attainment. Overall, this special issue covers a wide range of geographical areas in Europe and the US and each article addresses an understudied issue of homogamy.
